Family Visit

On Saturday, July 9th my mom, step-dad, sister & niece arrived from Fort Wayne, Indiana to stay for a week. My niece is about 4 months older than Keilah, and they became instant friends.

SUNDAY: Here we are at church with Keilah and Izzy in match dresses and sharing toys.

After church we went to my sister, Holly's, house for a BBQ and swim.

MONDAY: Everyone relaxed, recuperated from the drive, and got to know each other better.

TUESDAY: Holly's clan came to Davis for some fun at the park, a BBQ, and playing around.

The little ones enjoyed rides on grandpa's scooter.

Lounging on the hammock with grandma.
WEDNESDAY: We went to the Davis Farmer's Market. There is a pedal powered carousel here. The balding guy sitting at the entrance is actually pedalling to make the carousel go around.
Silas rode the pig, but he's too big to just sit there and ride.
THURSDAY: We went to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Land. Of course, these were the most interesting animals.

Fairytale Land royalty.

FRIDAY: We went to Muir Beach and discovered that July is awefully cold for the beach. But the kids had a blast playing in the sand with their aunts and cousins.

SATURDAY: They all left for Idaho to see my baby brother and his wife graduate from college.

Swimathon

Silas's swim team had a fund raiser. The kind where you donate based on their achievements, in this case how many laps (once across the pool) they can do in about 1 hour. Silas completed 66 laps!!! (72 laps is 1 mile) Way to go Silas!

Happy 4th of July - 2011

Thanks to Ashleigh for taking the photos! I've got to get better about taking pictures! We went to Paradise Ranch (the Rauch homestead) for the weekend of the 4th. We hung out at the pool, played games, and ate way too much food. On the morning of the 4th we went to the church's pancake breakfast. It was good food and they had a great patriotic program and fun games for the kids.
Silas got a big plate of bacon, poured syrup on it, and proceeded to eat. Crazy boy!

Camp Cayouse 2011

Silas participated in Cub Scout Camp this year. It went for 3 days: Thurs & Fri night and most of Saturday. He got to make things, learn archery, play games, and have tons of fun.

On the first night he got to lower the flag in the flag ceremony. He got this honor because of his good behavior throughout the day.

Summer Fun

Silas LOVES swimming, so we signed him up for a swim team. Here he is in his jammers and blue goggles. Since it's a "team", they teach him skills he needs for swimming fast.

Zeke is very excited about karate class twice a week. As his initiation he got to break this board with a palm punch. He thought that was the best thing EVER! I'm hoping he'll learn self-control and respect, he wants to learn to punch and kick. Hopefully we'll both get what we want.
Keilah's still doing gymnastics once a week. She's mastered the somersault, bringing her feet up to the bar she's hanging from, and running fast on the trampoline. We're still working on her balance beam skills.

Summer is Here!

It took a LONG time, but summer weather finally arrived the week after school ended. So here are the kids enjoying the cool water on a hot day (Chris and I joined them too).
