Let Summer Begin!

We like to start summer off right - at the pool!  My kids are fish (although Silas was being camera shy)!

Pinewood Derby fun

 Silas's Cub Scout den had their Pinewood Derby tonight.  It was VERY fun!

Here's Silas's car coming in first for the heat.  Silas's best friend, Ryan, is beside him cheering him on.

 Silas's car came in second overall.  The greenery was taken out for racing.

Zeke got to pull the starting lever for one heat.

Busy Silas

Silas has been a busy boy this Spring.  He earned his Cub Scout Bear Badge as well as a gold and silver arrow. (which means he did 20 achievements above that required to earn the badge)  Now he's gearing up for the Pinewood Derby.

 He also has dramatically improved his baseball game.  Here he is running home after hitting a single, stealing 2nd & 3rd, then coming home on a teammate's hit.  They won the game by 2 points.

Art/Science Expo

We went to the school's art/science expo and Zeke was delighted to hold some reptiles.  The kids also enjoyed marine life touch pools, building with marshmallows & toothpicks, Keilah made a beaded necklace, and they all enjoyed goodies from the sweet shop.

Baseball Opening Day

Silas's team this year is the Texas Rangers.  They did a fun skit for opening day which won them the runner up prize (they should have gotten first place!).  Silas is in Minors this year and is enjoying is coaches and teammates.

Friendship Walk

The kids' school had their Friendship Walk (also called "Fun Run" or various other names at other schools).  Both boys ran about 18 laps in their time allotted.  Silas's class went first.

 Keilah and I helped out keeping tallies of the laps and running with them occasionally.

 I had to put this photo it because it cracks me up how Zeke's head hovers over all his classmates.

Birthday Boy

Chris's birthday was a busy one.  He coached Silas's basketball game in the morning, moved his office furniture to his new office location, and took Keilah to a daddy/daughter dinner/dance.  She was SO EXCITED to go on a date with her daddy.

 We had the birthday cake the next day.  Here's Chris hamming it up for the camera and the kids.
